Flickbook Theatre, a Lincoln based company approached me some months ago and asked I create a series of images for their upcoming Edinburgh Fringe Festival show. I, naïvely, agreed: not 100% knowing what I had signed up for.
Yet two months later, here I am 1 marker pad, 3 fine liners and 26 illustrations down. For a while, it drove me insane, I honestly didn't think I would manage to finish them. Juggling a full time job in the Cabinet Office, along with a 4 hour round commute and much to my surprise, a life. However the more I drew, the more I fell in with it. The project made me remember how much I loved and missed illustrating.
Each illustration is drawn with a 0.2 fineliner with detailing added with 0.1. I tend to hold the pen very losely allowing a slight wiggle and freeness to the line. I don't worry too much if I go wrong because that's the quirk of the style, you work the mistakes into the drawing.

I have no idea what is going on in the photo above however I'm very excited to find out when I visit them at the Fringe.
Ta ta for now,
